OUR STORY
From Skateparks
to Custom Homes
My journey in construction began in 1996 at the Encinitas YMCA, where I was hired to coordinate the construction, management, and maintenance of a new skatepark.
I worked alongside a talented crew that included Craig Story, now Vice President of Site Design Construction Inc. Together, we helped build one of the most iconic skateparks of its time. With my background in art and design, I went on to build additional skateparks and event ramps for leading professional skateboarders, including Tony Hawk and Bob Burnquist.
As my family grew, so did my interest in residential design and architecture. I had the opportunity to apprentice under an experienced contractor while building my in-laws’ home, and later I took on my first spec home in Oceanside. That project was completed in one year with members of my original skatepark crew.
Over time, my work shifted from curved ramps and radius cutting to clean walls, functional spaces, and modern home design. The creative problem-solving skills I developed during those early years still shape the way I approach construction today.
Nearly 30 years later, Craig and I continue to draw on our shared beginnings when navigating the challenges that come with every project. We may always be skaters at heart, but today our focus is creating thoughtfully designed homes and spaces that our clients are proud to live and work in.
